Most of us set our own daily routines
according to our ease. Our brains get used to creating shortcuts to make
our lives easier. But there are a few shortcuts which aren’t good for a
healthy lifestyle. Good habits that need a little extra effort are
automatically excluded from our day regimes. Though the brain is to be
blamed for it, we can always train ourselves to indulge into healthy
habits.
Oral hygiene is one of the most avoided
habits by adults. If flossing your teeth, brushing twice a day and
avoiding sugary drinks suddenly seems unnecessary for you, you need
help. Because investing a little time looking after your dental hygiene
is far better that investing your savings on getting your teeth fixed.
So here are few tips you can use to trick your mind into including healthy oral habits in your daily regime -
Keeping up with the routine – It
takes at least 21 days for a task to become a habit. So be patient with
you. If you break this 21 day cycle, next time you start it again, make
it count as day 1.
Reward yourself – Make milestones
for your regularity. If you complete a week taking care of your oral
hygiene, bite on those chocolate pasties and reward yourself. But make
sure you brush your teeth that day as well. Like this you can define
milestones for 2nd week, 1st month and so on.
Track your progress – Make a
to-do-list and place it at a place you will often see, like your kitchen
fridge. Tick it when you complete the task and track your weekly
progress.
Ask for help or set alarm – You can always set alarms for your dental requirements. From brushing teeth to having a dentist’s appointments everything should be fed in your alarm app if you are forgetful. You may also ask your loved ones to remind you.
Hopefully these hacks will increase the
dental hygiene and give you a better routine for your dental health. All
the best and keep smiling!
